About the area
Be surprised by the varied landscape between Abeek and Lossing. Bushes, meadows and fields, peat bogs, but especially 17 ha of ponds with reed edges and swamp zones make this area extremely attractive. The Zig was once part of a vast marshland area along the Belgian-Dutch border.
Hiking
In this nature reserve, you can walk no less than four different loops. Along the blue and green trails, you can only walk in the Goort. The longer red and yellow trails meander through the ‘Zig’. In recent years, nature has done a huge amount of catching up here. Rare plants, dragonflies and birds have made their way back here. From the bird hide, you get a panoramic view over the ponds. The trails with all information can be found on the hiking map 'Zig en Goort'. The hiking areas ‘Zig’ en ‘Goort’ are adjacent to the ‘Stramprooierbroek’ hiking area, so you can easily combine the two.
Accessibility and parking
Parking is possible at car park 2 at the Doorslagstraat in Kinrooi.
